Kelsey Zazanis
Kelsey Zazanis is a literary nonfiction writer based on the central coast of California.
Weaving dream analysis, memoir, and inner territory mapping, her work paints an honest portrait of her chilling life history and the journey of reclaiming her body and spirit in the aftermath of incest.
An outspoken advocate against child abuse, Kelsey has been a leading voice in the politicization of incest since her 2019 publication “Sexual Citizenship, Incest, and the State: The Unseen of the Crime,” where she traces the origins of incestuous violence through historical analysis of the state-sanctioned family unit.
Her vision for the future is one of boldly moving incest out of the shadows and into the public sphere, not just as the insidious public health crisis that it is, but as a mainstream political issue.
